Pachmarhi sits at 1,067 metres in the Satpura range, the only hill station in Madhya Pradesh, which is exactly why it stays this quiet. Sandstone caves the Pandavas are said to have sheltered in, a waterfall dropping over 100 feet into a ravine, and Dhoopgarh, the highest point in the whole range, all inside a town small enough to get around without much driving. This trip covers the waterfalls and caves properly over two full days, then adds a real Satpura jungle safari as its own day rather than squeezing a 100 km drive into a departure morning.

Tour Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival and Local Sightseeing
- Arrive in Pachmarhi via Pipariya, check into the hotel, freshen up
- Breakfast at the hotel
- Visit Jata Shankar Cave, a natural cave temple in a deep ravine
- Visit Rajat Prapat Waterfall, dropping over 100 feet
- Lunch
- Rest and leisure time at the hotel
- Visit the Pandav Caves, five rock-cut caves linked to the Pandavas' exile
- Return to the hotel, dinner, overnight stay
Day 2
Waterfalls and Valleys
- Breakfast at the hotel
- Visit Bee Falls (Jamuna Prapat), set inside dense forest
- Visit Handi Khoh, a deep gorge tied to the Hanuman-Sanjeevani legend
- Short rest back in town
- Lunch
- Visit Apsara Vihar, a smaller waterfall with a natural pool for a dip and a picnic
- Free time, leisure walk in town
- Dinner, overnight stay
Day 3
Dhoopgarh Sunrise and Satpura Safari
- Early start for sunrise at Dhoopgarh, the highest point in the Satpura range (optional for late risers)
- Return to the hotel, breakfast
- Drive to Madhai, the main entry gate for Satpura National Park, roughly 100 km and 2.5 to 3 hours from Pachmarhi
- Cross the Denwa River by boat to reach the safari zone
- Jeep safari inside the core zone, spotting tigers, leopards, deer and other wildlife (subject to permit availability, book well in advance)
- Lunch near Madhai
- Drive back to Pachmarhi, dinner, overnight stay
Day 4
Departure
- Breakfast, check out, pack luggage
- Free time for last-minute exploring, Bison Lodge Museum or the local market
- Drive to Pipariya station for the return journey

- Solo travellers, friends and couples all welcome
- Rooms shared with same gender unless twin or single booked
- Satpura's core zone is closed mid-July to mid-October for monsoon. Trips in this window will skip the jeep safari and substitute a buffer zone nature walk instead
- Safari permits are limited and must be booked in advance, carry a valid photo ID for the safari regardless of what was shown at boarding
- Dhoopgarh sunrise start is early and optional, those skipping it can meet the group back at the hotel
- Seat confirmed only after advance payment
- Valid government ID mandatory for boarding, only names confirmed at booking may travel
- Departure time is fixed, report on time, vehicle and train will not wait

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I skip the Satpura safari if I'm not interested in wildlife? | Yes, though the day is built around it since Madhai is a genuine drive away. If enough of the group wants to skip it, we can substitute a slower day around Pachmarhi town instead, let your trip captain know at booking.
What happens if my trip falls during monsoon? | Satpura's core zone safari is closed mid-July to mid-October. Waterfalls are at their fullest during this window though, so the rest of the itinerary still works well, just without the jeep safari.
Is the safari guaranteed to show tigers or other wildlife? | No sighting is ever guaranteed on a jungle safari, but Satpura's Madhai zone has a genuinely high density of tigers and leopards compared to more crowded parks.
Why is the safari a separate day instead of combined with Dhoopgarh and departure? | Madhai gate is roughly 100 km from Pachmarhi. Fitting a 5-6 hour round trip plus a safari into a checkout morning isn't realistic, so it gets its own full day instead.
